WINCHESTER & PORTSMOUTH

The second combined meeting of the Andover and Basingstoke Districts on December 3rd in the Whitchurch - Overton area was a big attraction. In addition to District members, visitors were present from Swindon, Reading, Chichester, Warnford, Petersfield and Winchester. The service, in Overton Church, was conducted by the ringing chairman of the Basingstoke District (the Rev. F. Sanders).

Tea in the parish room was followed by a short business meeting of the Andover District, presided over by Mr. A. W. Alliston. Further ringing followed at Deane, Oakley and Wootton St. Lawrence, a big crowd queueing for a ring at all these towers until 9 p.m. All agreed that it had been a successful day despite continuous rain.
