WINCHESTER AND PORTSMOUTH DIOCESAN GUILD.

BEGINNERS GET FIRST EXPERIENCE ON EIGHT BELLS.

A very successful quarterly meeting of the Southampton District was held at Dibden on Saturday, when a good number turned up from the following towers: Bishopstoke, Dibden, Eling, Lockerley, King's Somborne, North Stoneham, Ringwood, Southampton and Winchester.

Service was held in Dibden Church, and tea followed at the Old School House.

At the business meeting the Rev. G. T. Tritton presided, supported by Comdr. Hamilton, R.N. Several new members were elected and it was announced that the next meeting would be held at Netley on October 13th, 1934.

Mr. G. Williams (Master) was unable to be present as he was indisposed.

After tea, the bells at Fawley and Eling were also available, and various bands made good use of them. Grandsire and Plain Bob were the methods concentrated upon in order to give the big number of learners present as much practice as possible. Several had their first experience of ringing upon eight bells.
