WINCHESTER & PORTSMOUTH GUILD

The annual meeting of the Southampton District was held at Romsey on January 11th and attended by some 50 members, who were very kindly entertained to tea in the Church Hall by the Romsey ringers. Ringing ranging from rounds to Surprise Major took place on the Abbey bells during the afternoon and evening.

The business meeting was presided over by the Rev. K. W. H. Felstead. Mr. M. Butler, the District secretary, tendered his resignation because of business commitments. This was accepted with regret and Mr. Butler was thanked for his valued services during the eight years he had been secretary. The new secretary is Mr. John Hartless, 17, Testwood Crescent, Totton, Southampton. Mr. C. H. Kippin was elected auditor, and Mr. D. Forder representative, otherwise the District officers were re-elected.

District meetings were provisionally arranged at: Bishopstoke, March 15th; Eling, June 21st; Bitterne Park, September 20th; with the annual meeting at Southampton on January 10th. All will be duly advertised in due course.
